Local Food Hero Award 2010-11

We’re Northamptonshire’s
Local Food Hero 2010/11

The Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards celebrate all that is great about the county’s food and drink, recognise excellence within the county’s dining venues and give a public pat on the back to all those who strive to offer exceptional food and drink experiences whilst maintaining strong connections with the community.

At a packed Gala Awards Dinner on Wednesday 6th October 2010 at Holdenby House, Michelin-starred Jason Atherton presented the prizes to the delighted restaurateurs, publicans and food and drink producers.

We were delighted that out of many entries our Mushroom, Bacon and Thyme Tart had been selected as one of the five shortlisted for Best Local Product. It was a real honour to be shortlisted and we were all very excited about it as having our philosophy and product thought of so highly is a great encouragement to us when we’re only been trading for a such a short amount of time.

In addition to being a finalist for the Best Local Product, we actually won the award for Local Food Hero, which was a complete shock on the night and an absolute joy!

In this category, the judges are looking for those people and businesses in the food and drink sector in Northamptonshire who go further in producing, supplying, promoting or selling local goods or food services, thereby contributing to the reduction of food miles and carbon emissions. We think it was the success of our local Hot School Meals Service that was the deciding factor in receiving this award and we couldn’t be happier!

Well done to all our hard-working staff – we couldn’t do it without you.
